Counselling and Support

About

Families Matter is a counselling and support service. We aim to promote emotional well being, improve mental health, and reduce the impact of poverty in the Furness and South Lakes area by providing a professional counselling service for children, young people and their families.

We provide free counselling for families who can’t afford to pay because they are on statutory benefits, are low-waged or unwaged. There will be a reasonable charge for families who feel they can afford to pay.

Families Matter offer one-to-one counselling for children and family members, group work, family counselling, couple and relationship counselling, personal development, parenting courses, training and consultancy.

We provide this regardless of gender, race, ethnic or national origin, sexuality, disability, religious or political belief, marital status, or age. We aim to set up an accessible therapy centre, but for now we will work in schools and Health Centres in the Furness and South Lakes area so that people can get to us easily.

We employ local experienced CRB checked Counsellors who will work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy code of ethics, and have completed safeguarding/child protection training.
